Raissa Mehner

Raissa Mehner studierte zwischen 2006 und 2011 klassische Gitarre an der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. Nach ihrem Diplom 2011 vertiefte sie in Köln mit einem Bachelor-Studium in Jazzkomposition/Arrangement, und absolvierte den Masterstudiengang Jazzgitarre an der Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen.

Mehner stellt ihre eigenen Werke vor allem in kleinen Besetzungen vor, etwa mit ihren Quintett Raissa Mehner Deviation. Weiterhin gehört sie mit dem Posaunisten Max Wehner zum improvisierenden Duo wehnermehner und bildet mit Annie Block ein experimentellen Duo aus E-Gitarre und Kirchenorgel. Sie spielte unter anderem am Kolleg für Musik und Kunst Montepulciano, bei den 25. Dortmunder Jazztagen, dem Soundtrope Festival in Athen und dem Jazzfestival Soest.

Sie ist Mitglied im Quintett Lariza um Lena-Larissa Senge, mit dem sie 2022 das Album Weave bei Double Moon Records veröffentlichte. Mit dem Einsatz von Effektpedalen konnte sie „ihr musikalisches Universum in alle möglichen Richtungen“ ausdehnen. Als Musikerin gehörte sie zum Theaterkollektiv compagnie toit végétal, das in seiner Live-Film-Performance Akim rennt für den IKARUS, den Berliner Kinder- und Jugendtheaterpreis nominiert und international zu vielen Festivals und Gastspielen eingeladen wurde.[4] Sie tritt auch mit der Großformation The Dorf auf; mit ihr ist sie auf dem Album (Baobab / Echoes) dokumentiert.

Raissa Mehner studied classical guitar at the Cologne University of Music and Dance between 2006 and 2011. After receiving her diploma in 2011, she furthered her studies in Cologne with a bachelor's degree in jazz composition/arrangement, and completed a master's degree in jazz guitar at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen.

Mehner presents her own works mainly in small ensembles, for example with her quintet Raissa Mehner Deviation. Furthermore, she belongs to the improvising duo wehnermehner with trombonist Max Wehner and forms an experimental duo of electric guitar and church organ with Annie Block. She has performed at the College of Music and Art Montepulciano, the 25th Dortmunder Jazztage, the Soundtrope Festival in Athens, and the Soest Jazz Festival, among others.

She is a member of the quintet Lariza around Lena-Larissa Senge, with whom she released the album Weave on Double Moon Records in 2022. With the use of effect pedals, she was able to expand "her musical universe in all possible directions." As a musician, she belonged to the theater collective compagnie toit végétal, whose live film performance Akim rennt was nominated for the IKARUS, the Berlin Children's and Young People's Theater Prize, and invited internationally to many festivals and guest performances.[4] She also performs with the large formation The Dorf; with them she is documented on the album (Baobab / Echoes).
