Salome Amend
Salome Amend ist eine in Wuppertal lebende Schlagzeugerin. Sie ist eng mit der Stadt verbunden, dort geboren, aufgewachsen und absolvierte ihr Studium an der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, Standort Wuppertal.
Ihre Schwerpunkte als Künstlerin liegen in der Neuen Musik, der Improvisation, Elektronischen Musik sowie Crossover Projekten, die sie als Solistin und in unterschiedlichsten Kammermusikbesetzungen aufführt. Neben der Mitwirkung in bereits etablierten Ensembles wie dem notabu.ensemble neue musik und dem ensemble 20/21, gründete sie 2017 mit ihrem Schlagzeug-Kollegen Pavel Beliaev das Duo PS: Percussion, in dem sie moderne und klassische Literatur spielen und für ihre Besetzung neu adaptieren.
Des Weiteren gründete sie mit der Kölner E-Gitarristin Raissa Mehner das Duo double exposure für freie elektroakustische improvisierte Musik. Seit 2022 spielt und komponiert sie im Geysir-Quartett mit Sandra Klinkhammer, Christoph König und Hajo Wiesemann, das die Musik bei der Produktion Das Fest mit dem Essener Grillo-Theater komponierte und live aufführte.
Außerdem arbeitete Salome mit Künstlern, wie z.B. Hauschka, Roscoe Mitchell oder Peter Brötzmann, an interdisziplinären kulturellen Kooperationen in den Sparten Tanz, Kunst und Literatur. Sie ist regelmäßige Gästin bei der Reihe Soundtrips NRW und trat unter anderem beim Approximation-Festival mit Alex Somers und dem Moers-Festival auf. Sie ist regelmäßig in verschiedenen Besetzungen in der freien Improvisationsszene in Wuppertal, Köln, Essen und Dortmund zu hören und spielte bereits mehrfach beim Jazz Meeting Wuppertal sowie bei Sound of the City der Wuppertaler Bühnen. Bei der Electro-Reihe Amidala (MAUKE) und electric garden (KuKuNa) konnte sie ihrer Faszination für die Elektronische Musik Raum geben. Crossover Projekte führten sie ins Tanztheater Pina Bausch und ins tanzhaus NRW. Im Jahr 2019 wirkte Salome an der CD/DVD Produktion Alles ohne Strom der Toten Hosen mit.
Salome Amend unterrichtete an der Bergischen Universität Wuppertal und seit 2018 an der Folkwang Musikschule in Essen. Seit 2023 ist sie Dozentin für Improvisation und Neue Musik an der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln.
Salome Amend is a percussionist living in Wuppertal. She is closely connected to the city, was born and raised there and completed her studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, Wuppertal location.
Her main focus as an artist is on new music, improvisation, electronic music and crossover projects, which she performs as a soloist and in a wide variety of chamber music ensembles. In addition to participating in already established ensembles such as notabu.ensemble neue musik and ensemble 20/21, in 2017 she founded the duo PS: Percussion with her percussion colleague Pavel Beliaev, in which they play modern and classical literature and adapt it anew for their instrumentation.
Furthermore, she founded the duo double exposure for free electroacoustic improvised music with Cologne-based electric guitarist Raissa Mehner. Since 2022 she has been playing and composing in the Geysir Quartet with Sandra Klinkhammer, Christoph König and Hajo Wiesemann, which composed and performed live music in the production Das Fest with the Grillo Theater in Essen.
Salome has also worked with artists such as Hauschka, Roscoe Mitchell and Peter Brötzmann on interdisciplinary cultural collaborations in dance, art and literature. She is a regular guest at the Soundtrips NRW series and has performed at the Approximation Festival with Alex Somers and the Moers Festival, among others. She can be heard regularly in various line-ups in the free improvisation scene in Wuppertal, Cologne, Essen and Dortmund and has played several times at Jazz Meeting Wuppertal and at Sound of the City by Wuppertaler Bühnen.
