Uwe Ohberg
Der deutsche Pianist Uwe Oberg (*1962) spielt an der Schittstelle zwischen Jazz und neuer improvisierter Musik. Seit den 80er Jahren ist er in zahlreichen Kontexten aktiv: Er spannt den Bogen von freier Improvisation zu eigenen Kompositionen und der Musik von Monk. Mit dem international besetzten Quartett ROPE ist es freie Improvisation, LACY POOL widmet sich vor allem Steve Lacys Kompositionen, und im Duo mit SILKE EBERHARD spielt er Musik, die mit Paul Bley verknüpft ist, als auch eigene Stücke.
Ferner sucht er immer wieder improvisatorische Begegnungen, etwa im Duo mit HEINZ SAUER oder im Trio CUSH mit Saadet Türköz und Paul Lovens. Weitere Kooperation mit: Alfred Harth, Peter Kowald, Tony Oxley, Matthias Schubert, Uli Phillipp, Sven-Ake Johansson, Jazzensemble des HR, Rudi Mahall, Evan Parker, Axel Dörner, Heinz Sauer, Subroto Roy Chaudhuri, Rajesh Mehta, Carl Ludwig Hübsch, Urs Leimgruber, Frank Gratkowski, Christof Thewes, Eric Plandé u.v.a. Musik für Stummfilme, Theater und Tanz. Zahlreiche CDs, internationale Konzerttätigkeit. Er gibt Workshops für Improvisation. Er lebt in Wiesbaden, Mitglied der Kooperative New Jazz, Kurator des Festivals JUST MUSIC. 2007 erhielt Oberg vom Hessischen Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kunst den HESSISCHEN JAZZPREIS.
